My father admitted me to the college and it was lunchtime therefore took me to the mess. He waited until I completed my lunch and no body dared to come and rag me. But in the evening, I went for the snack and found that the seniors were ready to pounce on me. They made me do all sorts of things, guindy salute being one of them. Ask any Guindian and he will tell you what a Guindian Salute and Anna Namam are. It makes me laugh even now to think about those.
Then was admitted in the "E" batch for the first year and had to share the room with two other students. Forgot their names, time flies and could not even remember the names of the two room mates. The room was on the 3rd floor with no elevators and it was good exercise to walk up and down. Then there was common room with the tv which we used to watch on Fridays "Olyum Oliyum". Then the usual dirty bathrooms with shared walls and doors that may not lock and cold water. In winter, our teeth used to chatter for taking bath in the cold water but you need to take bath as you will be sweating like a pig because of the humidity in Madras.
